For the first time in my adult life, I don’t dread Monday mornings. I sit and eat dinner on Sunday evening feeling strangely peaceful. It’s a foreign experience for me to feel so content during this part of the week. In fact, I actually feel some level of excitement for Monday to arrive. Why? Because, I get to go back to work. My name is Wilson, and I’m the Content Creator at Iron Age Office.
Each morning starts the same way. I wake up a little before 8, shower, brush my teeth, eat breakfast (if time permits), and head off to the office. When I arrive, I’m greeted by my various co-workers, all of whom wish me a good morning and ask how I’m doing. I can tell that they actually care what the answer is, just as I actually care how they are. If I had something noteworthy going on the night before, everyone wants to know how it went. I don’t view my co-workers as simply the people I work with. I view them as true friends, or even an extended family. The familial atmosphere in the office is ever present and is a huge part of why I love what I do so much.
After the greetings, I sit at my desk, take out my laptop, and get to work. I like to start reach day by reviewing what I worked on the day before. It helps me to look at the work with fresh eyes, so that I may improve it, or just gain a new perspective on what I want to do next. From there, I usually hop into Adobe Premiere for some editing. Editing is one of my favorite aspects of my job, as I find the process extremely relaxing and therapeutic. Throughout this process, I collaborate closely with our Marketing Manager, and often times our CEO, in order to ensure that my work is up to the necessary quality. This collaboration impacts how footage is edited and even how that footage is captured.
This collaborative process takes up the majority of my day. At some point every day, however, I like to make sure I walk through the workshop to see the progress on any furniture we currently have in development. This also gives me the opportunity to catch up with our various craftsmen. There’s a sense of comradery present in every part of my day.
Throughout each day, in addition to my content creation responsibilities, I’m also tasked with responding to a number of clients who reach out to us. These inquires come to us at all hours of the day, and it’s paramount that I respond as quickly as possible. This one of the more challenging aspects of my job, as no two clients are looking for the exact same thing. This is also what makes this element of my job so rewarding, as I’m constantly forced to adapt to each individual situation. I truly value the opportunity to work with so many varied and driven people who are looking for furniture to match their ambition.
My experience at Iron Age Office has been one of growth and teamwork. We’re also incredibly lucky to be led by a CEO who genuinely cares about the people he employs. He’s a leader who goes out of his way to make every individual feel valued and is eager to do what he can to put a smile on everyone’s face. This energy is felt by the entire team, which leads to us all pushing one another to be better than we thought we could be. Each and every day, I feel lucky to be part of a group of people who care about what they do, and care about one another. I’m already looking forward to what the next day brings.
